 artificial insemination   This is the method of introducing sperm into the vagina of the female animal by artificial means. The sperms are collected by using teasers .   Artificial insemination (AI) in rabbits can be a useful aid to colony management. In this review, simple non-invasive techniques for semen collection and AI are described.   Conception rates following AI can be equivalent to, or better than, those achieved by natural mating, with the added advantage that contact between animals is avoided. Ovulation can be induced reliably by the administration of a gonadotrophin releasing hormone analogue, buserelin , as an alternative to the use of a vasectomized buck or the injection of luteinizing hormone. The use of enzyme-linked immunoassay kits for progesterone assay can assist colony management by rapidly identifying non-pregnant animals for re-insemination.   Wild rabbit A female rabbit is called a doe. A male rabbit is called a buck. A young rabbit is called a kit (or kitten). Rabbits live in groups. The European rabbit lives underground, in burrows. A group of burrows is known as a warren. More than half of the world’s rabbits live in North America. Rabbits have long ears which can be as long as 10 cm (4 in). BUYING BREEDING STOCK - LEARN THE EASY WAY

Put in simple terms, breeding stock are the initial rabbits you will use to start a rabbit production project. This may consist of just a male and female rabbit or several females and few males depending on the scale of the project. Breeding stock or foundation stock is to me the most important factor to consider when going into rabbit production, the quality and quantity of which will determine to a large extent the profitability of the venture.
