The demise of Sir Thumper

Sir Thumper aka Solid Buck (2006-2014):

Thumper was my first male rabbit. I named him thumper because he kept thumping the first day it landed in my house; His persistent thumping that day plus the cute eyes made me to love him the most.

Thumper died and unfortunate death two years ago. It was a cool evening when I was trying to chase my rabbits back into their hutches because of the cat that raids at night. Suddenly my dog, Jack, who has been a good friend and close companion (more like a guard) of the rabbits, joined in the chase and made it look like war to the rabbits who scampered in different directions. I later fetch them and put them into their safe hutches except one – Thumper. He was missing. After 30 munities of search for thumper, I found him under the car parked in front of the house. His breathing was not normal and he did not move as usual when I tried to fetch him. His breath suddenly became heavy, loud and noisy.

Never seen my rabbit do this before – so many thoughts raced through my head. Picked thumper up into my arms, prayed for it, whispered consoling words into his ears, panicked a little and became so sad. I could not help my poor thumper. I dropped it on the floor to see if it could walk, but it could not, the gallant thumper was no more. After so much thought and worry, it dawned on me then that my dearest buck is suffering a heart attack after the frightening chase Jack gave them.

I remember the first days of Thumper with me just like yesterday. I still cherish the times we had together and the funny moments when Thumper will chase Jack away from his perceived domain and make jack bolt from that vicinity. Thumper, the caring Father, husband and pet RIP (Abridge version)
