It was Monday 24th
of December 2018 at about 6:55 pm my phone rang twice. I picked the call and a
husky male voice echoed through my phones speaker.
It was a customer
on the phone. He had earlier during day seen my on-line classified ad on
jiji and saved my phone number on his phone. He was calling to know if I
still had rabbits, he wants two mature rabbits (male and female). A dialogue
soon followed:
Nyela: Good
evening and thank you for calling. Nyela on the line, who am I unto?
Customer: Good
evening my friend, you are talking to Lukas
Nyela: How can I
be of help?
Customer: I got
your number on Jumia. Do you have rabbits?
Nyela: Sorry Mr.
Lukas, I suppose you meant jiji
Customer: Osorry! I forgot. I want to buy your rabbits
Nyela: How many
rabbits do you want Mr. Lukas?
Customer: Two, on
male and one female. How much?
Nyela: For the
mature rabbits that are fully grown and can be crossed as soon as you take them
home, each one is #4500, while the weaned rabbits at one month old go for #1600
each. What type would you like? I have pure breed New Zealand White rabbits all
mature and ready to breed.
Customer: No na!
how can it be #4500 enh? How much is chicken that I should be buying rabbit
#4500. Please say the real price

Customer: You
see! So how much are you selling for me last?
Nyela: #4500 is
my best price. The two rabbits will cost just #9000. You may use this amount to
buy two big chickens or you may go for the rabbits. But the important difference
is that no matter how long you keep two chickens, the can never reproduce for
you like rabbits. Thy may add more weight until they reach their max weight or
may lose weight depending on how you feed them. Besides, it is fact that
this chickens in the market are genetically modified organisms (GMO) engineered to grow with the aid of chemicals and hormones which
have side effects on the consumers.

for a whole year you are most likely
going to get
- At least 6 new born rabbits every two months
- At the end of the year your herd of rabbits would have grown to about 6 new born x 6 months = 36 plus the two parents which equals 38 rabbits that could supply you and your family pure white meat of the highest quality. Besides my rabbits are not like the chickens, you can always substitute their feed with what is abundantly available around you to feed them without buying any feed or medication.

Nyela: You see, two chickens that would not reproduce, oga who those
two chickens help? The quality and quantity of meat these rabbits would give
you in a year the chickens cannot give you on the same feeding and care.
